Photographed in September, on the streets they were installed on. Heirloom varieties — Cinderella, Blue Doll, Flat White Boer — chosen because they hold shape and colour through a Virginia autumn in a way a supermarket pumpkin does not.

a different season.
Spring and summer are worked in premium faux — layered planters and hand-tied wreaths that hold their colour far longer than anything living would in a Virginia July.
The autumn photographs are from September; the spring ones from earlier in the year. They are phone photographs of finished installs rather than a styled shoot, which is deliberate — it is what the porch actually looked like on the day, from the pavement, in the light there was.
