Every porch is designed for one particular door — its colour, its brick, the light it takes in the afternoon. Nothing is picked off a shelf and repeated down the street.
It is sourced, loaded into one truck, and arranged in place in about half an hour while you are at work. Then, at the end of the season, it comes down again.

How many weeks
Ten, from September through November. When they are taken, they are taken.
What autumn is made of
Real heirloom pumpkins and gourds — Cinderella, Blue Doll, Flat White Boer. Every other season is premium faux, which holds its colour far longer.
What happens after
Everything is cleared between 30 November and 18 December, and the pumpkins go to a farm in Loudoun County.
